Odyssey's 2025-2026 Lottery

Families who wish to have their learner(s) attend Odyssey Elementary School please review the requirements.

Families interested in having their child attend Odyssey Elementary will need to attend a mandatory meeting and complete the lottery application.

Lottery closes March 7 at 3:00 pm and the drawing will be on March 19 at 3:00 pm. Due to our educator-learner ratio, we will continue with grade level caps. We have spots available for Fall 2025 in grades K, 1, and 5. We do not have spots available for grades 2-4. If you have a child in grades 2-4 interested in attending Odyssey, please attend the mandatory parent meeting and complete the online form so your child can be placed on our waiting list.

Parent informational meetings will be held:

Wednesday, January 29 at 6:00 pm
Wednesday, February 12 at 6:00 pm

To be considered for the lottery and enrollment, families are required to attend one of these meetings — including parents of students in grades 2-4 who are on the waitlist. After attending the mandatory parent meeting, a link will be sent the following day with an application to be filled out for the lottery. In addition, out-of-district students also must complete the open-enrollment process through the D.C. Everest School District once enrolled.

Lottery Procedures

Lottery Interest Form: Families complete this online form to indicate their interest in Odyssey Elementary.
Lottery Mandatory Parent Meetings: Families must attend one mandatory parent informational meeting.
Meetings will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
Lottery application submission closes: March 7, 2025 at 3:00 pm.
Lottery drawing held annually on the Tuesday before spring break: March 18, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. Lottery process:
- 3:00 p.m. lottery drawing at Administration Building (conducted by District administration personnel not employed at Odyssey).
- Read each family name and drop card in a container.
- Family names will be drawn. As each card is pulled, the number of the card will be written on it.
- Family names will be drawn and the names of the learners will be written down in order, until the maximum is reached.
- Family names will then be drawn to form a waiting list. The names of the students will be recorded for the waiting list in the order they are drawn.

Waiting List Protocols

When seats become available, families on the waiting list will be called in the order they were placed. Families will either accept the open seat or decline it. By declining the seat, the learner is removed from the waiting list. If a family wants to be considered for the following year for the next grade, they will need to reapply.
The waitlist will remain active until September 30 of the current school year. At that time, no new learners will be accepted for the school year. There is the opportunity to reapply for the next school year.
Periodically, the administration will review enrollment to determine if and how many seats are available for admitting students from the waiting list.
